A month that was used to take stock of our activities and formulate new plans - but that did not stop the field trips, the events and the screening and uploading of our borrowers.

On the cards for the months that follow, are evaluation trips to our field partners, some of them new and some old. We will bring you stories from these trips to Industree Craft in Bangalore, Hope foundation in Kerala and Sambhav in Madhya Pradesh.

But for now we feature a borrower profile that reminds us that just Rs.3000 can make a difference to this woman and help realise her dream to educate her children:

Weaving a Livelihood with Palm Leaves
Living in a remote village in Orissa, BundBai's deft fingers are constantly at work, weaving beautiful leaf mats from palm leaves. Expanding her trade is the only way this 35-year old can continue providing for her 3 school-going children....

A Win-Win Situation
Arvind the newest member of our team won a ticket to go to Delhi and attend the TEDx and proudly announced this at the office. Before he could really fathom what had happened he was on a field trip too, to meet prospective filed partners at Jharkand and Uttar Pradesh. So, after having attended most of the Open House session on at the office that day he left for his trip- a little apprehensive but full of enthusiasm.....

Chapter Chatter
The Bangalore chapter held its first Freedom Concert 2010 on 14th August titled Rang. Hard work, careful planning and great marketing skills ensured a full house. The Essence Of Independence
Independence Day celebrations have undergone major changes in the last sixty odd years. The fervour of India's independence struggle and the role of our national heroes, get enacted in schools and a few other institutions while for the rest of us it brings out a plethora of emotions depending on the circumstances and situations we have faced in life. At Rang De it stands for Freedom-freedom from poverty and the ability to be self-reliant. more
